Khmer Grilling – Phnom Penh, Cambodia
Cambodia is a barbecue nation where the fire never goes out. All around the clock you can find locals preparing signature Cambodian food: crusty crabs, juicy beef cutlets, caramelized pork chops and crispy fish, which are then sizzled on grills or grids over buckets of glowing charcoal.
A hearty Khmer barbecue is always bursting with flavor. Spiced with ground Kampot pepper, sea salt, and lime juice, it’s the perfect meal to wash down with a refreshing jug of ice-cold cold beer.
The image of middle-aged locals seated on stools behind a long, low grill crammed with skewers of red meat is a common sight in Cambodia. The intoxicating scent – smoky and sweet – lures the nose even when you’re still half a block away.
Or, you can come with us on our new ‘Phnom Penh Evening Foodie Tour’ where you’ll get to things-to-do the delicious barbecue at a beer garden and have a wander through the local market.
