Hoi An – World’s Best City in the 24th Annual Travel & Leisure Awards
US travel Magazine Travel & Leisure has announced the list of 15 best cities in the world, and the 1st place goes to the ancient city of Hoi An in the central province of Quang Nam.
According to Travel & Leisure, the readers rated the cities on criteria such as: sights and landmarks, culture, cuisine, friendliness, shopping, and overall value.
Situated on the coastline of the Middle part of Vietnam, referred as ‘The Ancient City’, Hoi An in recent years is claimed to “experience a resurgence of locally rooted arts and culture, manifesting itself in the form of new, regionally focused restaurants, experimental cocktail bars, young-gun designers, and boundary-pushing boutiques” (Travel & Leisure). Visiting this city, tourists will be amazed by the dazzling streets decorated by colorful lanterns at nights, casually walk around to try the street food that can hardly be found anywhere else. What special in Hoi An is that, you don’t have to worry about the traffic because cars and motorbikes are restricted to go inside walking streets, and no matter how far you walk, you will still come back to where you start. There are a lot of reasons to love this central Vietnamese port town.
Hoi An has been praised for friendly local people, culture, heritage and food, ranked the 1st place with the score 90.39 out of 100.
Beside this award, the city has also been recognized by other organization and press.
Hoi An is a well-known travel destination in Vietnam. The ancient city was named a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1999.
Recently, the city was ranked among the 10 stunning holidays ideas for 2019 by Elle, the worldwide lifestyle magazine of French origin.
Earlier, Hoi An has been named among the world’s 50 best places to travel in 2019, according to a list released by Travel & Leisure.
It was also put at the 11th place among the 19 cheapest holiday destinations in the world in 2019 in the annual Holiday Money report compiled by Post Office Travel Money.
