DAY 1
YANGON

At the beginning, you will transfer to a ship moored at the heart of colonial ‘Downtown’ Yangon.

After a while sailing upon the first tide up the Rangoon River, you will enter the Twante Canal, which connects the Yangon River with the Irrawaddy Delta. Then, you will stop en route at the Twante village to visit the well-known enormous water pots.

DAY 2
MAUBIN AND NYAUNG DON

In morning, you will walk through Maubin bustling market and the surrounding areas.

Your journey in the afternoon will continue with the exploration around the Delta area and NyaungDon city, where you may observe the authentic local life.

You will moor overnight at Zakagyi.

DAY 3
DANABYU AND ZALON

You will start day 3 at the Delta creek exploration and stop at Danabyu, another little town with a busy port and bustling markets. In the First Anglo Burmese War in 1825, the Burmese General Maha-Bandoola was defeated here.

An afternoon walk in Zalon city to visit beautiful Golden Buddha image will be worth joining. Then, you will return to the ship and moor overnight at Henzada.

DAY 4
MYANAUNG

Today, you will set sail all along the Irrawaddy River. until stopping a while to visit the local markets in the sleepy Delta town Manaung, where you may also take photos of beautiful colonial buildings.

DAY 5
PROME (PYAY)

From early morning, you will sail slowly upstream and downstream A Kaut Taung area, to view the magnificent Buddha carvings on the mountainside, from the upper deck or sundeck.

As reaching Prome by the afternoon, you will travel by coach to the 5th – 8th century archaeological site of Thiri-ya-kittiya, the former capital of the Pyu civilization with a fascinating museum of early Buddhist artifacts and sculptures.

DAY 6
THAYETMYO

This pleasant colonial town once guarded the border between Royal Myanmar and British Myanmar in the 2nd Anglo Myanmar War in 1855. Many of the buildings including the covered market date from this period. Thayet also boasts the oldest golf course in Myanmar (1885).

Here, you will visit the historical relics as well as the market. You may also see the colonial houses and ride out by horse cart to the golf course, passing through the former British botanical garden.

DAY 7
MINHLA AND MAGWE

At Minhla, you will visit the two Italian built forts constructed to keep the British at bay from Royal Myanmar. The fight for the Minhla redoubt was the only serious action in the war and the death of a young subaltern inspired Kipling to write a poem.

Then, you will take a trishaw to reach the magnificent Magwe Myat-thalon Pagoda, which was constructed with solid gold bricks. You may also visit many nat shrines and hermitages within the temple precincts.

DAY 8
SALE

Here, you will visit the Yout-saun-kyaung monastery with its spectacular wood carvings and explore splendid colonial-style houses. Then, you will continue to sail upstream.

DAY 9
BAGAN

In the morning, you will stop by the Tan-Chi-Taung and ascend by WWII jeep. In the afternoon, you will visit some of 3,000 listed monuments at this World Heritage Site, Pagan.

DAY 10
BAGAN

You will further the exploration by coach around the monuments, followed by a lacquer ware workshop and local markets.

You will continue to sail upstream at noon.

In the evening, a walk around Oh Ne Kyaung village to see the local life in this typical river side community may be a great choice.

DAY 11
YANDABO

You will see the best local pottery technique herein Yandabo rural village as it is specialized in pot making for generations.

Also, you will visit the Pandaw School, built with past donations from Pandaw passengers.

day 12
MANDALAY, SAGAING AND AMARAPURA

First, you will take a tour to Central Mandalay, visiting the Mahamuni Pagoda and Shwe Nan Daw Kyaung teak carved monastery.

In the afternoon, let’s head to Sagaing, where its true delight lies in the 1,000 hermitages and sanctuaries as well as the abundance in woodcarving and religious art.

Then, you may visit the ancient capital of Amarapura by coach and take a boat to ride along Taungthaman Lake. Here, there is a break moment for you as you can see the tranquility and serenity of this beautiful lake along with the famous U-Bein Bridge at sunset.

day 13
MINGUN

You will stop by Mingun to see the largest working bell in the world and the unfinished pagoda, world’s largest single mass of brick building.

Also, you may visit Mingun Old Peoples Home originally established with the assistance of the Irrawaddy Flotilla Company in the 1930s.

day 14
KYAUK MYOUNG

Today, you will sail upstream to visit the spectacular potteries near Kyauk-myoung, where the famous 50 gallon water pots were made by humans’ hands. Furthermore, you may see all stages of manufacture from the throwing of the pots to the week-long firing in huge kilns.

In the afternoon, we will head back to Mandalay.

MANDALAY – DEPARTURE
