day 1
PHNOM PENH

Welcome to Phnom Penh! The capital of Cambodia, once known as the Paris of the East, Phnom Penh has undergone rapid development, yet it has retained much its rustic charm and elegance.

In the evening, board a dinner cruise and enjoy the view and the meal while observing the evening activities along the Tonle, Bassac and Mekong rivers.

PHNOM PENH

This morning visit Tamao Wildlife Sanctuary, a small sanctuary supported by Australian non-profit Free the Bears, which rescues Moon and Sun Bears from Asia’s illegal wildlife trade, providing these furry ones with food and shelter. After lunch explore the capital city by cyclo; tour the National Museum’s treasure chest of artefacts, visit the lavish Royal Palace and Silver Pagoda, ride further along the riverside and finally visit Wat Phnom, birthplace of the city.

To visit the Royal Palace and Silver Pagoda in Phnom Penh, appropriate clothing is required; short pants (above the knee) or sleeveless tops are not permitted.

day 3
PHNOM PENH – SEN MONOROM

Drive from the capital city to Mondulkiri Province. Part of the way is on dirt roads passing through untouched countryside as you head into one of the remotest areas found on Cambodia vacation packages.

Stop to get a feel for the small-town provincial capital Sen Monorom, then continue another 40km to view Boo Sra Waterfall. From a nearby hilltop take in the view of endless forest-clad rolling hills at a spot commonly known as “sea forest”. Close out the first day of your trip to Cambodia with an excellent sunset view over Sen Monorom from the top of Phnom Dak Reimon before returning to your hotel.

day 4
SEN MONORUM – ELEPHANT VALLEY PROJECT

Today visit a sanctuary for elephants, the Elephant Valley Project near Sen Monorom. Jack Highwood, a passionate animal lover and vegan, set up this camp in the jungle to give old and mistreated elephants a dignified life after being abandoned by their owners or saved from their misery.

Unlike in other camps, elephants are not tourist attractions here and no on is allowed to ride them; rather, you can get to know these gracious animals by spending time alongside them. Explore the jungle home of two families of elephants and learn about pachyderms, the local mahouts and the forest.

The Elephant Valley Project only open from Monday to Friday, incase your traveling date fall on weekend, we may switch the itinerary to Sen Monorum before Phnom Penh.

SEN MONOROM – KRATIE

Head out to Kratie. Upon arrival, take the short boat trip to Koh Trong Island and experience typical Cambodian village life. Explore the island on a local horse cart ( if you are with the minor or senior otherwise we suggest to hop on a bike) or pedal yourself around on a bicycle. You can visit the island’s temple and take part in a tree planting project, initiated by a local farmer to rebuild tree cover on the once densely forested island. Spend the night on Koh Trong Island.

day 6
KRATIE – KOMPONG CHAM

After breakfast on the island, ferry back to the mainland and head towards Kampi where you will take a boat tour for a chance to observe the endangered fresh water Irrawaddy dolphins in the Mekong River. As few as 80 dolphins remain here, and in spite of comprehensive conservation projects now underway, dolphin mortality remains high. Continue on toward Kompong Cham, passing by riverside scenery of verdant villages and rice paddies, and visiting the Chupp plantations to learn more about the process of extracting rubber from trees. Kompong Cham brings to your Cambodia vacation package your first impression of the ancient Khmer empire, at Wat Nokor Temple and Wat Han Chhey, an ancient hilltop pagoda with spectacular views over the Mekong.

day 7
KOMPONG CHAM – SIEM REAP

Today you will continue toward Siem Reap, stopping mid way in Kampong Thom to visit Sambor Prei Kuk, a pre-Angkorian temple complex. Most temples in the complex were built of brick rather than stone, and Sambor Prei Kuk served as the capital prior to the Angkor period. Arriving at Siem Reap, settle in to your hotel for the night.

day 8
ANGKOR TEMPLES CYCLING

We get out the bicycles and get the chance to explore the ancient temples of Angkor with major highlights such as Angkor Wat, Angkor Thom, Bayon, and the jungle temple of Ta Prohm. This is a great way of getting to understand more about the Angkor complex, travelling at a relaxed pace with the time to really look at your surroundings.

day 9
SIEM REAP – KULEN MOUNTAIN

Today, we go to hinterlands of Siem Reap to the place where, in 802 AD, Jayavarman II crowned himself God King, beginning the “Age of Angkor”. At Phnom Kulen, one of only two places in Cambodia where Buddha is reputed to have set his foot, you’ll visit a waterfall and a giant reclining Buddha. In addition, push on to explore kilometers of complex trails and deep jungle tracks, revealing hidden temples and stone elephant and lion statues.

This tour is designed to ride with motorbike so if you accept the challenge let’s us know in booking stage. As standard, we are now leave it as transfer by car.

day 10
SIEM REAP – FLOATING VILLAGE & HIDDEN TEMPLE

Visit Kompong Kleang “floating village”, a settlement of over 20,000 people where houses tower up to ten meters above the water surface. Amidst the waves of friendly locals, you can glimpse Cambodia’s countryside culture and traditional family lifestyle. Enjoy a picnic lunch here, then head for the hidden jungle temple of Beng Mealea.

A short walk brings you to this overgrown temple, whose wonders lay undiscovered for centuries.

In the evening, to cap off the delights of your Cambodia vacation packages, enjoy a special treat with a performance from PHARE. The Cambodian Circus has long been famous for their performances, and this NGO teaching street kids to become circus artists is a regular at international circus conventions worldwide. Enjoy their creative interpretations of modern life and issues in Cambodian society.
