Mandalay

Mandalay is regarded as the cultural centre of Myanmar with a great number of attractions to see. It was the former royal capital and situated on the Irrawaddy River. In its center is the restored Mandalay Palace surrounded by a moat and Mandalay Hill provides views of the city from its summit, which is reached by a covered stairway. At its foot, the Kuthodaw Pagoda houses hundreds of Buddhist scripture inscribed marble slabs.
